Seeking Information on famous Native American Musicians

I am researching Native American influences on Jazz. Many notable jazz artists who are known as "black" have a significant portion of Native American in their background, sometimes as much as 1/2 their heritage. I am doing a paper on Native American contributions to modern popular music. Are there any "hidden" Native Americans you can think of? Mainly, I am looking for jazz, blues, and rock. I'm not looking for Native American flautists who play traditional sounding music. Any assistance/names you can give would be appreciated!
